GeocachingWhat is Geocaching?
This section of my website is dedicated to my new found hobby. (Like I didn't have enough
to begin with) If you have a GPS unit, and enjoy hiking and good-old-fashioned treasure
hunting, then you will love Geocaching. It's impossible to explain it completely in just
a few sentences, so I won't bother trying. Check out the
official website
for more information. Specifically, I recommend the
FAQ page
since it gives you the big picture of what geocaching really is.My Adventures12/31/2002 - I set a multi-part goal for myself that I wanted to reach before I have my ACL (knee) reconstructive surgery on 1/7/2003. I wanted to have found at least 50 caches before the new year, and I also wanted to make the top 100 geocachers in AZ. I got both today! Check out the caches I have found or you can visit AZGeocaching.com to see that I'm ranked (as of today) #88. Whoo hoo!12/13/2002 - HORAY! Today I got my GPS. I went with the Garmin eTrex Legend. It was originally $250, on sale for $200 with a $50 mail in rebate at Amazon.com. Excellent deal! I'm starting to go out on my own and hit some caches. 12/5/2002 - I signed up with geocaching, and although I don't have my own GPS unit yet, my good friend Bill Tomlinson has one, and we go out during our lunch breaks and find them. As of this writing, Bill (CacheLess) and I (TheWebbman) have only hidden one of our own caches. Interested? Look at the caches I have hidden. And, when/if I get my own GPS unit, hopefully the caches I have found will also grow. Redefining GeocachingBill and I have some ideas to redefine geocaching to make it more adventurous and interactive. Stop by here later, we will be revealing our secret project soon. |
